About
Citation.js is an MIT-licensed JavaScript bibliography tool for the browser, Node.js and the command line. It reads DOIs, ISBNs, PubMed IDs, BibTeX and RIS, and formats citations and bibliographies in CSL styles such as APA and Vancouver, or exports BibTeX.
What you can do with it
- Format a DOI as an APA or Vancouver bibliography entry
- Convert between BibTeX, RIS and CSL JSON in code
- Build a citation generator into a web app
Get started
- Install the core package and the plugins you need
- Load a DOI or BibTeX string with Cite
- Call format with a style
Example
npm install @citation-js/core @citation-js/plugin-doi @citation-js/plugin-csl
// const { Cite } = require('@citation-js/core')
// require('@citation-js/plugin-doi'); require('@citation-js/plugin-csl')
// Cite.async('10.7717/peerj-cs.214').then(d => console.log(d.format('bibliography', { format: 'html', style: 'apa', lang: 'en-US' })))Details
