Context7
MCP serverVersion-specific library documentation and code examples for coding agents
- Access
- API key recommended for higher limits
About
Context7 retrieves library docs and examples from a hosted backend through MCP or CLI. Its MIT local bridge is not full self-hosting: on-premise retrieval requires Enterprise. An API key raises lookup limits; the retrieval backend is private.
What you can do with it
- Look up current software documentation while generating code
- Find examples for a specific version of a library
- Run on-premise documentation retrieval with an Enterprise deployment
Get started
- Connect your MCP client to https://mcp.context7.com/mcp
- Optionally configure a Context7 API key
- Ask for library docs and specify the version you need
Example
npx ctx7 library next.js "How do I configure middleware?"
npx ctx7 docs /vercel/next.js "How do I configure middleware?"Details
