About
Home Assistant is a self-hosted smart-home hub with device integrations and REST state and service APIs. Its official MCP uses Streamable HTTP on your instance with OAuth or a token. The default Assist MCP controls and reports only entities you expose to it.
What you can do with it
- Read smart-home sensor and device states through the REST API
- Turn connected lights or other devices on and off with service calls
- Let an agent read and control only the entities exposed to Assist MCP
Get started
- Install your own Home Assistant instance and connect devices
- Use an access token for REST, or configure MCP with OAuth or a token
- Connect MCP at your instance's /api/mcp and choose exposed entities
