Open Food Facts
APILook up packaged food ingredients, allergens and nutrition by barcode
- Access
- None; identifying User-Agent
About
Open Food Facts is a community-contributed food-product database with a barcode lookup API. Reads need no credentials but require an identifying User-Agent and obey rate limits. Data can be incomplete or inaccurate; ODbL database and separate image licenses apply.
What you can do with it
- Resolve a scanned grocery barcode to a product and its nutritional values
- Show ingredients and listed allergens for a packaged food
- Filter food products by nutrient fields with the structured search API
Get started
- Send a User-Agent naming your app and a contact address
- Query a barcode with v3; structured search uses v2
- Respect endpoint limits and the database and image licenses
Example
curl -H "User-Agent: MyFoodApp/1.0 (contact@example.com)" \
"https://world.openfoodfacts.org/api/v3/product/3017620422003?fields=product_name,ingredients_text,nutriments,allergens_tags"Details
