About

Pulumi defines infrastructure in programming languages and previews or applies changes through providers. Its Apache-2.0 CLI can use a local or DIY state backend without Pulumi Cloud. Provisioning requires provider credentials; Cloud adds hosted state, collaboration and remote MCP.

What you can do with it

  • Manage cloud infrastructure as code in a general-purpose programming language
  • Preview resource changes before applying an infrastructure update
  • Keep infrastructure state in Pulumi Cloud or a DIY backend

Get started

  1. Install Pulumi and configure your cloud provider credentials
  2. Choose Pulumi Cloud or a DIY backend and create a project
  3. Run pulumi preview to inspect proposed resource changes

Example

# Run inside an existing Pulumi project with its backend configured
pulumi preview
