Amazon Redshift Data API
APIRun asynchronous warehouse SQL without persistent database connections
- Access
- AWS IAM and database authorization
About
Amazon Redshift Data API submits SQL to Redshift clusters or Serverless workgroups and retrieves results over HTTPS. Calls require AWS authorization and database access. Query results last 24 hours and are limited to 500 MB compressed. Warehouse charges still apply.
What you can do with it
- Query a Redshift data warehouse from an application without a persistent connection
- Submit an asynchronous reporting query and check its statement status
- Retrieve warehouse result rows using the AWS SDK or CLI
Get started
- Use a supported Redshift cluster or Serverless workgroup
- Grant AWS IAM and database access, or configure a Secrets Manager secret
- Submit SQL and use the returned ID to fetch the finished result
Example
aws redshift-data execute-statement \
--workgroup-name "$REDSHIFT_WORKGROUP" \
--database "$REDSHIFT_DATABASE" \
--sql "SELECT 1 AS value"
# After the returned statement ID has finished:
aws redshift-data get-statement-result --id "$STATEMENT_ID"Details
