About

The Snowflake SQL API submits SQL statements to a Snowflake account, returns query results, and supports checking or cancelling longer-running statements. Calls use a bearer token from OAuth, key-pair JWT or a programmatic access token.

What you can do with it

  • Query Snowflake warehouse tables from a custom application
  • Submit SQL transformations and data updates over HTTP
  • Check asynchronous statement status and fetch query results

Get started

  1. Configure a Snowflake account and warehouse
  2. Set up OAuth, key-pair JWT or a programmatic access token
  3. Submit SQL to the account's statements endpoint

Example

curl -X POST "https://$SNOWFLAKE_ACCOUNT.snowflakecomputing.com/api/v2/statements" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SNOWFLAKE_TOKEN" \
  -H "Accept: application/json" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "User-Agent: warehouse-app/1.0" \
  -d '{"statement":"SELECT CURRENT_VERSION()","warehouse":"YOUR_WAREHOUSE"}'
