About

Blender MCP is Blender Lab's official local MCP server: a Blender add-on that runs inside Blender plus a Python MCP server process that relays natural-language requests to it over a TCP socket. It runs LLM-generated code with no sandboxing, so the docs recommend an isolated machine.

What you can do with it

  • Let an agent inspect and edit a Blender scene through natural language
  • Query object relationships and data-blocks in an open Blender file
  • Generate Blender Python API documentation on demand for an agent

Get started

  1. Install the Blender MCP add-on (requires Blender 5.1+)
  2. pip install the mcp package from the repo
  3. Point your MCP client at the blender-mcp entry point

Example

git clone https://projects.blender.org/lab/blender_mcp
cd blender_mcp
pip install -r mcp/requirements.txt
pip install -e mcp
blender-mcp
