About

Google's REST API for uploading, searching, downloading, exporting and sharing files in My Drive and shared drives. It is for apps that store files in, or sync files from, users' Drive. Access uses OAuth, and projects get a free daily quota, with billing above it planned.

What you can do with it

  • Upload and download files in a user's Google Drive
  • Search files and folders and read their metadata
  • Share files and follow changes to keep Drive in sync with your app

Get started

  1. Enable the Google Drive API in a Google Cloud project
  2. Set up the OAuth consent screen and a client ID
  3. Get a user access token with a drive scope

Example

curl "https://www.googleapis.com/drive/v3/files?pageSize=10&fields=files(id,name,mimeType)" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $GOOGLE_ACCESS_TOKEN"
