About

MapLibre GL JS is a TypeScript library that uses WebGL to render interactive maps from vector tiles in the browser. Styles follow the MapLibre Style Specification. It renders tiles but does not host them, so you point it at your own tile source or a provider.

What you can do with it

  • Show an interactive map in a web page with no vendor account
  • Style vector tiles from your own self-hosted tile server
  • Add markers, layers and popups on an open-source map stack

Get started

  1. Install maplibre-gl from npm
  2. Create a Map with a style URL and a container

Example

npm install maplibre-gl

import maplibregl from 'maplibre-gl';
const map = new maplibregl.Map({
  container: 'map',
  style: 'https://demotiles.maplibre.org/globe.json',
  center: [0, 0],
  zoom: 2
});
